In early 2022, Middlesbrough College Group submitted plans for a new, multimillion-pound engineering facility. NCM Auctions was subsequently engaged to handle the clearance of all assets from their existing site via an online auction.
> Achieve the highest return on investment for TTE Technical
> Provide our auction services with a single point of contact
> Support local and regional SMEs
> Create social, environmental and economic benefits by reusing the equipment
Middlesbrough Engineering College was a large education site focused on metalwork. We published a diverse auction catalogue with over 200 engineering and industrial assets. This process was completed weeks in advance to allow our marketing team to advertise these assets to an appropriate audience.
The auction successfully went ahead, and our customer and operations teams later managed the collection process. Over 60 buyers collected their items before a final mop-up auction captured several smaller items at reduced reserves.
Our marketing campaign ran across several platforms, including Google Ads, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, email campaigns and specialist publications. This multi-channel approach led to a huge return on investment for all stakeholders:
> Impressions = 537,000
> Ad Reach = 285,000
The Middlesbrough Engineering College sale was hosted across multiple auction platforms, providing national reach to bidders. The auction garnered almost £100,000 in revenue for the group, which was well above our client’s expectations.
As well as the financial gains the auction brought, it’s essential to demonstrate the environmental benefits to the local community and economy by reusing surplus assets that add to the circular economy. The result is tangible outcomes that help validate corporate, social and environmental responsibilities.
The auction allowed surplus assets to be re-purposed, which supported growing companies, new business ventures, communities and charities across the UK and beyond. The type of assets and equipment included in the auction was especially important to third-sector non-profit organisations.
