NCM generated almost £150k for the site and turned the entire project around within a tight 1-month timeframe
The specialist manufacturer entered administration in February 2024 after external factors, including pressures following the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, severely affected the aluminium smelting industry and meant the business was not in a financial position to continue trading.
In March 2024, NCM auctions were appointed to swiftly auction and clear the entire contents of the carbon cathode block manufacturing site, including production lines, conveyors, forklifts, generators, buildings, compressors, racking, lab equipment, workshop tools, stock and much more. The entire site went under the hammer in our exclusive LIVE liquidation auction.
NCM's objectives were to turn the project around quickly whilst generating maximum revenue for the site via a hybrid live and online auction.
The specialist machinery included a Hensel Industrial Overhead Saw, Carbon Cathode Block Butler Presses, a Wassmer Machining Centre and Stirk Industrial Dry Grinding Line.
By early April, the site had been auctioned and by the end of April cleared. The auction made nearly £150k in revenue and diverted huge amounts of waste from being sent to landfill. Amongst the successful winning bidders were local refractories, local tradesmen, reclamation companies, engineering companies and many others benefitting from the auction. Some of the machinery was bought by international bidders and exported overseas to Czech Republic and Ireland.
